The culture of food and wine is epitomized by old world countries and regions.  One which immediately comes to mind is Italy’s Piedmont zone.  Home to some of the world’s most prized vineyards, surprisingly there are many great deals to be had.  Today we offer you a fantastic deal on a “relatively” young producer in this historic part of the wine world.

Michele Chiarlo started in the mid 1950s with a vision to vinify the essence of Piedmont.  He works with estate vineyards and top growers to craft the region’s most traditional varietals.  Any bottle to sport the Chiarlo name has been recognized by pundits around the world as being a reference point for varietal correctness and displaying terroir. 

Today we’re excited to share with you one of our absolute favorite food wines that just so happens to come from Chiarlo’s cellars.  The Le Orme Barbera d’Asti has been a consistent winner on diverse table of food.  While it pairs with traditional Italian fare, it’s juicy fruit and racy structure pair nicely with rich seafood dishes.  Aged for a brief period in French Oak barrels, the Le Orme picks up a touch of weight and showcases a graceful touch of tannin.  The quintessential house wine to pour for any and all occassions ... all for a humble ask of $15!
