The French Blonde

Rita Hayworth made the Margarita famous, Carrie Bradshaw (aka Sarah Jessica Parker) the Cosmopolitan, and now Swifties are all-a twitter about Tay Tay’s new favorite drink, The French Blonde.  Typically, we do not get star struck by celebrity influences on cocktails but must hand it to Taylor for her astute choice in selecting this drink as a favorite.  It is a great combination of ingredients that give a nod to the spring and summer seasons ahead.  No doubt, with Swift’s help, you will see it popping up in restaurants and swanky cocktail lounges around the country.  Below we offer you the recipe so that you can stay ahead of the curve and be one of the cool kids in town.  Though we have seen variations on the cocktail using Vodka instead of Gin, we urge you to try it in its original form before putting any spins on its ingredients.

The French Blonde

In a shaker glass filled halfway with ice add:

  • 2 Ounces Fresh Squeezed White Grapefruit Juice
  • 2 Ounces Lillet Blanc
  • 1 Ounce London Dry Gin
  • ½ Ounce St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur
  • 3 Dashes Lemon Bitters* (optional)

Shake and strain into a chilled martini glass.

*If you do not have lemon bitters, you can rub the rim of the glass with a lemon twist before straining the cocktail into it to achieve a similar accent.
